Four Tips for Buying a Quality New Car

So you''ve chosen your model car that you would like to buy. There are four things you can do to be sure you don''t get stuck with a lemon car. And all of them involve research, research and more research. You must find out if there are any known defects or issues for that model.

First search for recalls for that model. The internet is a good resource for this. One good organization is called the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Their website is reliable for discovering any recalls for the model you are thinking of buying.

Secondly find out about maintenance history for that model. Go to the Center for Auto Safety for one way to discover your car model''s maintenance history. Even if that model has not had any recalls, it might be a model that has a bad repair record. That would influence your decision. Also check automobile magazines, newspaper articles and website reviews for information about that model.

Thirdly go to your own car mechanic and inqu ire about this model. You are a customer, and they should be willing to share this information with you. Does your mechanic see a pattern in the repairs for the model you''re thinking of buying?

Fourthly leave your name and phone number with your mechanic and ask them to give your name and phone number to an owner of the model which you would like to buy. It is important to talk directly to owners of the car model to see if they are satisfied. Be sure to ask a current owner if the car is expensive to maintain or if it''s about average.

If you follow these four principles you are unlikely to get stuck with a lemon. if you do get stuck with a lemon car, be sure to use the Arizona Lemon Law.
